Singles holidays for over 30’s

Now it would be very easy for us to just give you a list of the best singles holidays for over 30’s but how would you know they really are the best for your age group?

There’s no doubt solo travel is on the up – the number of single travellers from the UK has increased by 25% over the last five years, according to a report by Euromonitor International. And with a massive 83% of you in your 30’s interested in pursuing a holiday abroad rather than the UK, there’s no better time to travel with like-minded people.

To help you pick your ideal holiday, we’ve gathered some recent reviews from our returning solo travellers in their 30’s so that you can see what they said about their holiday experience, meaning you can be sure you’re picking the BEST holiday for your needs.

So let’s delve into the world of solo travel in your 30’s…

Top 3 reasons to travel solo

Now let’s be clear – you don’t need to justify why you would want to join a singles holiday. The main reason I have travelled solo in the past is simply just to meet more people. The more people you meet from different backgrounds, cultures and from different age groups, the more enriching your travelling becomes.

But according to Mintel’s Solo Holidays – UK report (October 2018), these are the most popular reasons why people tend to go it alone…

    1. “To have more freedom to do what I want to do.”
    2. “I would like to have more time for myself.”
    3. “I didn’t have anyone to go with.”

Why solo doesn’t mean single

OK, before we get deeper here, we need to make sure we are both on the same page. Are you ready?

Just because you travel solo does not necessarily mean you are single (and therefore looking to mingle…). Nope, not at all.

In fact, these ‘singles holidays’ we talk about are actually set up so people like you can travel solo but not alone – joining other like-minded travellers.

Some may be on their own, some could be with a friend or even partner but you’ll all share the same goal. To travel and share new incredible experiences.

But wait! On the other hand, what Mintel’s report found was that amazingly 1 in 3 people who travelled solo in 2018 were actually in a relationship.

So there you go, solo really doesn’t mean single.

So let’s get stuck into it. Here are our best singles holidays for over 30’s, reviewed by people like you, for you.

Surf and yoga holiday in Morocco

Located in the laid-back surfing village of Tamraght, near Agadir on Morocco’s Atlantic coast, is this friendly surf camp run by local surfer Abdellah and his team.

There are plenty of opportunities to meet new people outside the surf and yoga lessons. You’ll enjoy daily group meals on the roof terrace, while you admire the amazing coastal views. Plus, the instructors even organise a weekly night out to show you around the town and the best places to hang out after a day in the waves. As far as an active holiday for singles goes, this is one of the best out there.

First-time solo traveller Holly, aged 32, said:

“I had a fantastic and memorable time in Morocco – all thanks to Abdellah and his wonderful team. Everything was organised bespoke to me – everyone just went above and beyond each day to ensure I had the best holiday ever. Do go with the yoga too – Danai is fantastic!”

Yoga retreat in Costa Rica

Is there anywhere more perfect than Costa Rica to detach yourself from the daily grind for some much needed R&R? If that’s just what you need, this singles wellness and yoga retreat in Montezuma is just the ticket.

Wake up in your eco-friendly accommodation and take just a few steps to your morning yoga session on a wooden deck right on the beach. Unwind and re-energise for the day ahead to the sound of exotic birds and chattering monkeys, with the jungle and ocean as your backdrop.

The more active can spend the rest of the day horse riding or learning to surf. For the rest, grab a hammock, book a holistic treatment and immerse yourself in the moment.

Learn French in Nice

Located in the vibrant Liberation-Borriglione quartier of Nice, is this award-winning French language school. The area is known for its beautiful provincial style buildings, set among the lively village-like atmosphere and eclectic mix of people.

But don’t be deceived by the term ‘language school’. This language holiday for singles is far from any school environment you may know. Meet students from all over the world during your lessons, then relax in the private outdoor terrace area, complete with reclining deck chairs.

And let’s not forget the fact that in Nice you are never too far away from the beach. After your French lessons, grab your beach bag and head to the sandy city beach – take a dip in the Med or work on your tan.

Amy, aged 35 and travelling solo, said:

“Great course, exactly as described. Really good teachers and friendly staff at the school. I really enjoyed the experience and it’s something I would definitely do again!”
