Holidays in the Maldives

Overview

Perhaps more than any other destination on earth, the Maldives epitomises the notion of a tropical island paradise. Located in the Indian Ocean, around 750 km south west of the Asian mainland, the country is made up of around 1200 islands all with some of the most spectacular beaches on earth.

On virtually all these islands you’ll be able to find some of the most luxurious and spectacular resorts, all set on soft, white-sand beaches lapped by sapphire-blue waters. And these days, you can explore beyond the resort boundaries and uncover the fascinating, perfectly slow pace of life enjoyed by the locals if you want to truly get to know the Maldives.

And for anyone with an interest in marine life, the Maldives is home to some of the very best snorkelling and SCUBA diving. In crystal clear waters you’ll be able to find magical reefs bursting with tropical fish, majestic whale shark and sea turtles, and do it all in water so warm you’ll be able to forget about needing a wetsuit.

One thing is for certain on a holiday in the Maldives, by the time you’ve left, you’ll already be dreaming of the next time you visit the gently swaying palm trees on an adventure that truly helps you feel as if you’ve left the rest of the world behind.

    Best Time to Visit Maldives

    General

Realistically, any time you visit the Maldives you are virtually guaranteed incredible weather and glorious sunshine. The high season however falls within the months of December through to March, as outside of these months you may find the sunshine is periodically broken up by a little cloud.

For those on the hunt for a surfing holiday, we’d recommend March through until October, and for those planning on spotting whale sharks, May is your best bet. The months with the least predictable weather are September and October.

    • In many cases, less than 10% of the money spent on a holiday actually ends up in the pockets of the local community. Tourism leakage is a serious problem, and it means many people are not able to reap the benefits of the tourism happening in their own back yard. We work with small, local suppliers and ensure that they receive a fair amount for every holiday we sell.

    • The climate is changing, and the travel industry is a key frontier in this battle. On the one hand, pollution from travel, erosion from over-tourism, and waste from careless travelling can make the problem much worse. But on the other hand, travel affords unique opportunities to help people connect with the natural environment in a close-up, personal way, and support locals in protecting their local environment. We are committed to offering experiences that match our sustainability criteria.

We educate and provide guidance to travellers, hosts and agents.

    • Travel can help build a better world, but it has to be done properly. We are not just finding experiences that are better for local communities and better for the planet. We are committed to helping everyone travel better. From the moment they book with us until the moment they arrive home, we actively help our travellers with resources and guidance. This helps them travel more mindfully, and ultimately, offers a deeper, more rewarding experience.
