What you'll do

Overview

Truly immerse yourself in the wild landscape of North Wales, on a luxury wild swimming and yoga retreat on the Isle of Anglesey, and experience the rejuvenating power of nature.

Once you arrive at your country house, surrounded by acres of idyllic parkland, you’ll embark on a weekend adventure that will get you back in touch with nature, and leave you feeling refreshed and re-energised, and feeling the full benefit of escaping busy life and returning to the great outdoors.

Each day you’ll discover a beautiful new wild swimming location, exploring the beautiful Anglesey coastline with its hidden, misty coves, secluded beaches, majestic sand dunes and stunning countryside and get sand between your toes with beach yoga sessions.

These are spots that the locals have been using for hundreds of years, but they’re far enough off the tourist trail to still feel totally wild, wonderfully unique and completely unspoilt, so you can bask in the feeling of swimming in complete seclusion.

This is a yoga retreat suitable for anyone; solo travellers, couples and groups of friends who want to explore the stunning coastline of North Wales from a totally unique perspective, and for those people who really want to get away from it all, be as active or relaxed as you like and experience a bit of true wilderness.

Laura Bell

Laura landed into yoga quite literally after being thrown out of a boat in Australia 11 years ago and landing with a broken back. After 3 months of rehabilitation, she was able to walk again but was told her passion of running was no longer an option and that yoga would be the best form of exercise to aid her recovery. As she started to practise yoga as a way to keep her back strong and pain free, her love of yoga was born. After training with David Swenson in Ashtanga yoga a new yogic way of life flourished.

From teaching weekly classes and workshops she soon realised that she wanted to give her students more. It was then that her retreats were born. She found a stunning location, taught the yoga, led the group on coastal walks and with the help of her mum cooked the meals. It was very much a family affair, with her sister helping out and carrying out the massages. But demand for the retreats grew and now have a team of like minded, caring women running the retreats throughout the year. Laura is still very much involved in the running of the retreats and will often be there to help set up, sometimes with a baby or toddler in tow!

FAQs

What can I expect for the meals?

The retreats provide a delicious plant based vegetarian menu – healthy picnic lunches at the swim locations and divine meals back at the house in the evening. Retreats avoid sugar, dairy, wheat and gluten where possible. Pukka and fresh herbal teas are plenty, along with a selection of fresh fruit and healthy cakes. You will not go hungry!

What level of fitness should I have for this retreat?

This retreat is perfect for all levels; small groups ensure everyone gets the support they need.

What's the age requirement?

The minimum age is 18, however some mothers and younger daughters have come together.

What is the yoga space like?

Just through the walled garden and majestic wooden gates you’ll find the oak framed yoga space. The combination of lovingly handcrafted oak beams, high ceilings and underfloor heating make it the ideal surrounding for yoga and meditation practice. With the peace and tranquility of the surrounding parkland, it is a sanctuary from the outside world.

Who will my yoga teacher be?

Amy Bell

Amy specialises in Vinyasa Flow classes, in which you will be guided down a creative, physical journey, with an accompanying contemporary music playlist designed to support the energy and rhythm of the class. The classes are intelligently sequenced so that the students are safely warmed up and prepared for the various, chosen “peak” postures.

Can I share a twin room with another (female) solo traveller?

Yes, you can.
