Noodles are the absolute staple of Vietnamese cuisine, and this tour, led by a local social enterprise, helps you truly get to know Hội An's rich food scene on a unique market tour and cooking session.
You’ll be picked up from your Hội An accommodation, and taken on a walking tour through the streets of peeling French colonial buildings, ancient Japanese pagodas and Chinese shophouses, as you learn about the stunningly rich culture and history of this beautiful town.
You’ll be led by trainees or graduates of STREETS, an NGO social enterprise that helps prepare vulnerable, orphaned, out-of-school or disadvantaged youths for professional careers in the hospitality and tourism industry.
The experience focuses around the most popular food in Vietnam, the humble noodle, and the culture that surrounds the making, cooking and eating of them. Any staple food of a nation is sure to have a fascinating cultural story, and a huge part in contemporary culture, and you’ll know everything about the food that has helped shape the nation.
You’ll visit a bustling, steaming market, where you’ll learn about traditional Vietnamese ingredients, from fresh vegetables to live seafood, and how they’re blended and combined to form classic dishes.
After that, we’ll visit an authentic, local noodle stall to learn how noodles are made, taste traditional, delicious dishes and to have a go at a hands-on cooking class. You’ll be making the essential Hội An dish – My Quang.
