What you'll do

Get out of the city and off the beaten track, exploring Hanoi's beautiful countryside by bike and boat, as you visit local farms and villages, interact with local artisans, and cruise the waterways on traditional bamboo basket boats.

After breakfast at around 9:00 am, your guide will meet you at your Hanoi hotel and you’ll set off on an eco-tour to get a taste of rural Vietnam.

You will cycle out of the city, and into the stunning, lush green countryside that surrounds the city. Cruise past lumbering groups of water buffalo and shimmering rice fields until you reach a community that specialises in bamboo handicraft.

Here, you’ll explore the tranquil water coconut forest on a traditional bamboo basket boat, learning how the locals get about, enjoying a lesson in how to paddle from the experts, then taking in a basket boat show put on by the locals.

Choose to spend the rest of your time joining in bamboo boat races, lazing around catching crabs and soaking up the deliciously laid back atmosphere, or even joining in with a bit of riverside karaoke!

We’ll arrive back in Hanoi for the afternoon, where you have time to relax or continue exploring the city. Hanoi is a food hub in Vietnam, and the most famous dish here is Cao Lau, made of pork, fresh noodles and local greens. Your guide will be more than happy to offer recommendations of where to go and what to see, so ask them about this dish!
