This experience has been carefully created by experts in native marine fauna with the aim of offering an experience designed to the smallest detail for those sea lovers who will appreciate the natural landscapes of Arona in Tenerife, as well as its marine inhabitants on a snorkelling with turtles route.
This tour is designed for small groups, lovers of flora and fauna, in particular sea turtles, and above all respectful of the environment. It takes place in the waters of Tenerife South, in the municipality of Arona.
This snorkelling with turtles experience starts at Puerto de las Galletas. There, a small boat (11 seats) will travel for 30 minutes around the area of the Malpaís de la Rasca.
This is a protected special nature reserve with beautiful volcanic landscapes and natural coves. Your guide will be knowledgeable about the environment, and will offer explanations throughout the tour. Large vessels are not allowed access to this protected area.
The boat will then stop in a special area where a large number of native birds nest. This place is a privileged spot for bird watching. Although it is not part of the snorkelling activity with turtles, if you are a turtle lover, take the opportunity to bring binoculars.
All the equipment for snorkelling will be handed out by your guide, including diving goggles, snorkel, fins and a neoprene wetsuit which offers more buoyancy, safety and comfort than a life jacket. This suit also retains body heat better during the hour of submersion.
Your guide will also provide snorkelling training for participants who have never snorkelled before.
Your guide will accompany you during the tour, ensuring he passes on his extensive marine knowledge onto you!
For an hour you will be able to enjoy the marine life, swim with the loggerhead turtles and manta rays of the “bishop” variety that inhabit the area.
You will also be able to see some shoals of fish of the most representative marine fauna of the Canary Islands: bogas, fulas, viejas, sargos, etc.
This activity is carried out in small groups and with an expert guide to minimise the impact on the environment.
The team in charge complies with a commitment to respectful snorkelling, respecting the animals and keeping the necessary distance.
In addition, during the routes they collect the rubbish found (plastics, etc.) and have a policy of plastic reduction and waste separation.
Please note that this tour only runs on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays.
Note: The port of departure could change to ‘Los Cristianos’ if the sea conditions make it necessary.
