What you'll do

The rolling hills of the Basque country are full of picturesque local villages, stunning cuisine and world-renowned wine. On this tour you will be able to experience all of this, and are guaranteed that essential local touch. With the sun-kissed vineyards of La Rioja as your destination, you'll see and taste a side to Spain most can only dream about.

After hotel pickup, say goodbye to the coast for the day and you’ll wind your way through the mountains of the Basque Country until you’re met by the sunny hills of La Rioja, carpeted with endless rows of grape vines.

You’ll be taken to a very special, four generation, family run Bodega where they’ll show you the whole wine making process. Then hit the relax button, it’s the tasting and tapas session on the patio overlooking the valley.

For lunch you’ll feast on a stunning array of tapas accompanied by the region’s finest wines, giving you a taste of everything essential to the local cuisine in the dream setting right inside the winery.

This informal lunch will give you the perfect overview of Basque cuisine and wine, so that you can really immerse yourself in the food culture of the region and return home satisfied that you have experienced the best of authentic northern Spain.

I am a British girl who has been based in the Basque country for the last 11 years after I completely fell in love with the place and the culture. I have a great perspective of exactly what being a tourist in the Basque country means and how to make your San Sebastian tours as individual, memorable and as special as possible. I absolutely love San Sebastián and having lived here a long time, I found that a lot of the tours and experiences were the middle of the road, regular activities. We take people off the beaten track, it’s all about trying something and stepping out of your comfort zone. And that's exactly what we allow people to do.
