What you'll do

Enjoy an exclusive, VIP experience to one of Catalonia's most renowned winemaking heartlands, touring stunning countryside, authentic wineries and vineyards, and trying world-class wines.

With a history of making both red and white wines that dates back to 4th Century BC, it’s fair to say Penedès is up there with the world’s best wine lands.

The region has also become somewhat of an expert in Cava. So much so, it’s earned the nickname: ‘Cava Country.’ This is Spain’s equivalent to the Champagne region of France. Although most of the varieties planted here are white, this stunning and easily accessible wine region is becoming well known for both red and white wines of exceptional quality.

On this VIP experience you’ll explore the Penedès’ vast vineyards and some of the historic, family-run wineries with a local guide, an expert in all things wine.

Here’s your itinerary…

10:00 – Your private chauffeur and expert wine guide/translator will to pick you up at your hotel in Sitges/Barcelona and depart for the beautiful D.O. Penedès wine appellation (est. drive time of 45 mins).

11:00 Winery visit at the historic Caves Llopart (www.llopart.com). The Llopart family has combined the cultivation of traditional agricultural Mediterranean products: grapevine, wheat and olive, since 1385.

14:00 A picnic in an elegant setting, the middle of a vineyard, which offers unbeatable views.

A straw hat and a wicker basket will be delivered to every visitor and will contain: A vegetable sandwich, “Escalivada” bread (a traditional Catalan dish of smoky grilled vegetables, it typically consists of roasted eggplant and bell peppers with olive oil and sometimes onion, tomato, minced garlic and salt), an olive sandwich with Iberian ham, Spanish omelette (made of potatoes) with bread slices topped with tomato, local cold meats (cheese, spicy pork sausage and cold sausage), Macarone pasta and fresh fruit jelly.

The wines and cavas are served during this activity, and the cavas will be those included in the Gran Reserva Tour.

15:00 Visit and tasting at the D.O. Penedes’ premier organic wine producer, Albet I Noya (www.albetinoya.com).

17:00 Depart Penedés for Sitges /Barcelona and drop off guests at a location of their choice.

Sandwiched by the glistening Mediterranean on one side and by the Montserrat mountains on another, be sure to bring your camera. Penedés is somewhat of a paradise on earth, and you might want to snap a few pictures to remember your once-in-a-lifetime trip to Spain’s Garden of Eden.

Originally from France, I have been lucky enough to have lived in two other countries, Holland and now Spain. My background & experience has always been in tourism, I studied it at university and have worked in the industry ever since, from tourism marketing to export management I have touched a variety of different areas. And I have travelled an incredible amount, from Europe, to Asia, to Africa, South America, whenever I get a bit of time, I go and see more of the world. After moving to Spain I decided to start offering these authentic, immersive experiences and began doing it full time in 2013, and I never looked back.

What our travellers are saying...

This is a long overdued review...sorry for that Sophie. It was an out of world experience for us. Sophie personally guided the tour and brought us to four wonderful wineries including a fantastic lunch at a beautiful small town. The tours were private without any other visitors and we had 100% attention from the vineyard owner/Manager. The wineries selected by Sophie were top grade and we had many beautiful bottles of wines. We also enjoyed the

Sophie is way beyond a tourist guide. She was able to make a private tour for 7 people, from different Countries and expectations. Excellent options, very well organized. Sophie is very professional, but besides that you can tell how much she loves what she does. I will recommend without a doubt working with her in the future.

In Barcelona, Sophie picked the three of us up at our rented apartment on time, and during the short 45 minute ride to the Cava Region of Penedes explained the wines we would be tasting.  We had a fantastic tasting at the different wineries. The first was possibly our favourite - we had a lovely tour and tasting which included some food pairings that were wonderful. Very beautiful winery! The owner happened to be at the tasting room who we we
