What you'll do

Explore the hidden alleys off the Royal Mile, or take a stroll up Calton Hill for beautiful views on a spectacular photo tour of Edinburgh with a local guide who knows the very best spots for composing stunning photos.

A three-hour private photo tour in Edinburgh. Starting with coffee to review your photography skills and customize our tour to suit your level and go over technical skills. Shooting a variety of locations.

Bring your photography skills up a notch and truly understand your camera settings as you discover Edinburgh’s medieval alleys, closes, and hidden gems. We will walk around Edinburgh’s old town with you, capturing the imposing Castle atop the Royal Mile to the underbelly of Cow-gate and Grass-market; the historic capital will delight your camera.

Whether you are starting off, a hobbyist, or have years of experience, our team of professional photographers will find superb photographic opportunities for all kinds of interests, from landmarks and people watching to hidden secrets and great views over the city. Take advantage of the one-on-one experience of our private and personalized tour to develop your own creative vision.

Each tour is crafted to the skills and needs of the participants. Apart from taking photos, you can also expect to learn:

Creative composition, using lines, repetition, camera angles

Training your eye: composition, subjects, lighting

Portraits and how to get the most out of your flash

Taking control of your camera: f-stop, shutter speed, ISO and focusing

Reviewing your photography

You won’t be on your feet the entire time though, we will start off with a coffee to go over your work and level of technical expertise so that our professional photographers can craft the perfect tour, suited directly to your skillset. Let us know if you have a particular location you want to shoot and we will work it into the itinerary.

Each tour is private, and we will not couple you with people you do not know. Feel free to bring along guests, such as other photographer friends, or your partner and family, but we ask you to limit the group to four people. This way we can work at your pace to make sure you take away the skills from your Scottish activity holiday that last a lifetime.

When I started running photography tours for visitors to Paris, I didn't expect it would be so popular. It was something I did because I am passionate about photography, love travelling myself, and love my city, so I enjoyed the company and showing people how to get better photos of the City of Light. Some six years later, and we are now a team of 36 amazing photographers all with a passion for photography and a love of our home cities, leading photography experiences in cities across the world. We host over 1,000 photographers each year, discovering how to get the best from their camera while being shown around the highlights and less well known areas of the city by a knowledgeable, local guide and passionate professional photographer.
