What you'll do

Properly get to know Porto's rich culture and gorgeously slow lifestyle on a tour that gets you off the beaten track, and learning about a place through the best medium possible: food.

On this unique tour of Porto, you’ll step off the usual tourist routes around the city, as a local shares with you a look at real city life and the genuine, non-touristy food scene they enjoy.

You’ll discover what makes Porto’s cuisine so enticing, sample incredible local dishes and specialities, discover historic, beautiful architecture to understand what events have shaped Porto over the years, and drop in on some of the most popular areas in the city amongst the residents.

Once you’ve been picked up from your hotel, the tour begins with a stroll through the charming, picturesque streets of Porto, as you weave your way through a mix of Romanesque, Neoclassical and Gothic styles on your way to Porto’s atmospheric Old Town.

Learn the favourite cafés, restaurants and bars of the residents, and follow your nose into a cute café to try some mouthwatering pastel de nata. These custard tarts are one of the most famous exports from Porto, and you’ll soon see why once you sink your teeth through the creamy filling and flaky pastry…

As you wander the winding lanes and majestic avenues, your guide will tell you the curious stories and fascinating facts that have made Porto the way it is today. Understand the events and myths that shroud the city and have influenced everything from the food the locals eat, to the architecture that surrounds you.

Continue walking as you listen to curious facts and stories of the city. After building up an appetite, indulge in a traditional bifana, sliced pork steak in a roll of bread. Next, head to another café and try a cachorrinho, a small Porto-style hot dog, and the classic sandes mista de pernil, a pork and cheese sandwich.

Enjoy each snack and meal with a Portuguese beer or a local wine, as conversation flows and you learn more about this beautiful city.

By the end of this tour, you’ll have sampled the very best food Porto has to offer and really got to know Porto as a city, and your guide will provide the best tips for getting the most out of your time in Porto, whether that be eating, drinking, or any other activities.

Born and raised in the delightful city of Porto, apart from a two year stint living in Scotland in my younger days, I have lived in Portugal all my life. When I was around 35, myself and a couple of my travelling friends (one of which is my brother), decided to set up our company. We set out scouting Portugal, visiting the places no one visits, meeting people, exploring landscapes discovering all these authentic towns. We know the country like the back of our hands, so when you go on one of our experiences you get an experts insight and learn so much more than you would visiting alone.
