What you'll do

Overview

Lisbon in Spring just has something about it. On this off the beaten track city experience, you'll discover authentic Fado performances and traditional dinners, stunning cuisine in the lush hills and vineyards outside the city, and a pace of life you can't quite replicate anywhere else in the world.

As the days start to get longer, the city is filled with new colours and perfumes and the temperatures become very pleasant.

The Portuguese capital is beautiful in all seasons, but it is in this season that it blossoms. There are various places in Lisbon to enjoy spring, from gardens to pavement cafés.

Here, time passes more slowly, the pleasure of life and a calmer rhythm finds its setting, and the inhabitants, passers-by, and the city seem to smile more. On this unique off the beaten track city break, you’ll enjoy dinner at a traditional Fado house and get up close and personal with the magical experience of Fado singing.

You’ll head out of the city and explore a bustling fresh produce market with a local chef, selecting fresh, seasonal produce at its best at this time of year. Enjoy a cooking class and create delicious authentic dishes made with the fresh ingredients chosen that very day. You’ll visit a wonderful winery to taste incredible locally made cheese, bread and, of course, wine!

There is also some free time built into the itinerary, so that you have time to explore Lisbon independently and soak up the unique atmosphere the city holds, at its most magical time of year.

Arrival Day and Traditional Fado Dinner

Your adventure begins when your driver picks you up at Lisbon airport to drive you to your hotel.

In the evening, your driver will transfer you to an authentic restaurant where you will experience a delicious traditional dinner & Fado night in a cosy Fado house.

A small note to visitors: traditionally once the performances of Fado singing begin, the lights go dim to create an environment of intimacy and contemplation for the musicians and the audience…silence reigns! As the saying goes “Silêncio que se canta o Fado”.

At the end of the show you will take a transfer back to the hotel if you prefer to rest, but if you don’t want the night to end, you can take a leisurely stroll back to the hotel and enjoy Lisbon’s nightlife along the way.

Immersion into Portuguese Cuisine

Today, your driver will pick you up early in the morning at your hotel, for a half-day private guided tour in Setubal.

You will visit the Mercado do Livramento in Setúbal (the fish and vegetables market) which was rated by USA Today magazine as one of the best markets in the world. You’ll be accompanied on your market tour by a local chef who will help you navigate the market, as well as its traditions and etiquette.

At the market, you will buy the ingredients to prepare lunch with, and enjoy a delicious oyster tasting. After this, you will visit a local winery in Palmela.

Wine, bread, and cheese tasting at a winery are waiting for you. After the tasting, you will enjoy a cooking experience with the ingredients you bought at the market, followed by a private lunch with wine pairing. After this wonderful lunch experience, it’s time to return to the hotel in Lisbon.
