What you'll do

Oslo's cuisine has a strong maritime influence and is now a foodie hot spot thanks to what’s known as New Nordic cuisine - food that revolves around nature, purity, freshness and simplicity. Get ready for a day of exploration and fresh flavours!

The day begins when you meet your guide outside the Chocolate Store for your walk around the city’s culinary haunts and hotspots. Oslo has a strong maritime influence and is now a foodie hot spot thanks to what’s known as New Nordic cuisine — food that revolves around nature, purity, freshness and simplicity.

Next, enjoy a peaceful saunter through the city together with your guide and explore some hidden corners of Oslo that you might otherwise have a hard time finding. The guide will give you a taste of a typical Norwegian dessert as you head towards the food market.

Your tour wraps up at Mathallen, the renowned covered market stuffed with food stands selling Norwegian and international goods – a must see on any visit to Oslo.  Enjoy dishes as you browse the stalls, including rich local cheeses made by small-scale producers. Discover the raw food specialist Bondens Butikk and try the beloved Norwegian cured meat.

This guided food and cultural walking tour will entice you with a wide range of local foods as well as fascinating stories that will help you see the hidden sides of the city.
