Here at Not In The Guidebooks, we have said for years that responsible travel and sustainability lie at the heart of everything we do. It is one of the key concepts that underpins every experience and holiday that you can join us on.
Whether it’s ensuring that you contribute to the protection and conservation of a natural landscape or wildlife species, whether you contribute to the local economy by ensuring the money you spend remains in the local economy, or whether you come away with a new appreciation and understanding of sustainable travel, we have always worked hard to ensure that our customers, partners and hosts help improve the world through travel.
That’s why we’re delighted to say that Not In The Guidebooks has been awarded Travelife Partners Status, an indication and validation of our long-term commitment and application towards sustainability goals in the travel industry.
What does this mean?
It means Not In The Guidebooks complies with more than 100 criteria related to our office management, product range, international business partners and customer information. The Travelife Partner level standard is covering the ISO 26000 Corporate Social Responsibility themes, including environment, biodiversity, human rights, and labour relation.
It also means that we participate in the EU-funded SUSTOUR project that runs from 2020 – 2023 and aims to promote sustainability among the European tour operator sector through a business led approach.
In Layman’s terms, this all essentially means that at NITGB, we don’t simply talk about sustainability issues, we implement real strategies and tactics aimed at improving our own internal sustainability performance, inspiring our hosts and suppliers to take on sustainable practices, all whilst educating our clients and customers in the best ways to travel responsibly.
But of course, we are not going to rest on our laurels. There is still so much more we can do as a business and Travelife Partner Status indicates a willingness to continue to work on and improve on our sustainability performance.
