Spend 7 nights at this friendly and locally-run surf camp in the relaxed, surfing village of Tamraght. Laid back vibes, good company, homemade local cooking and excellent surf conditions in this picturesque area of Morocco make this a surf holiday not to be missed.

The instructors are up early each day to scout the best locations for you to get the most out of your surfing day, and there’s plenty of choice for excellent surf spots. The instructors are always on hand to offer you personalized guidance, regardless of your level.

Groups are kept small so that instructors can ensure personal tuition and you’ll have 4 hours of surf lessons each day in the mornings and afternoons so you’ll be catching waves in no time.

Tamraght is one of Morocco’s top destinations for surfing, with world-class waves right at your doorstep! The village looks out over the Atlantic Ocean, has the beautiful Atlas Mountains behind it, and gets over 300 days of sun a year. A perfect year-round destination for surfers.

Arrival

– You will be able to check into your room anytime from 2pm
– You will have time to settle into the accommodation and soak up the laid back atmosphere, in the evening you’ll join the other guests for a group dinner

Accommodation

The spacious four-level house at the surf camp provides simple yet comfortable accommodation. The surf camp offers a variety of rooms, including double rooms, single rooms, twin rooms, and triple rooms. All rooms share toilets and shower facilities.

The camp has three large common areas for relaxing and chilling out, including a roof terrace with amazing views of the coastline. They also have satellite TVs and DVD players if you’d like to relax at night with some new friends and a movie.

Typical Day

– A day at the surf camp will begin with breakfast being served at 8.30am
– You will then be transported to the best surfing spot for the morning session; all of the instructors keep a close eye on the forecasts and swell patterns, and they’ll know where the best waves and fewest people will be
– Once at the ideal spot, you will have your morning surf coaching session (a total of 4 hours’ tuition a day)
– A delicious packed lunch will be provided at the beach, along with water to drink, so you don’t waste any valuable surfing time having to buy food
– Depending on the conditions and your surfing needs, you may then be transported to another surf spot to make the most of the afternoon waves or you could stay where you are
– You will return to the camp at about 4.30pm
– Your daily yoga session (1 hour) will take place in the morning or evening on the beach or roof terrace depending on conditions
– Free time until 7.30pm to relax or explore your surroundings
– Dinner and a free relaxing evening to spend watching TV, socialising or playing cards or board games with other guests or try an additional local activity & excursion with some new friends

What can I do in my free time?
– After a busy physical day of surfing, relax in one of the many common rooms or on the roof terrace and enjoy WiFi, books, billiards, and board games
– Most people chat, read and enjoy the outdoors and activities available in Tamraght village such as Massage, QUAD, Buggy, Horse and Camel Riding
– For a night on the town, head to Agadir city (25 minutes taxi ride away) and enjoy cafes, fantastic restaurants offering both Moroccan and European food, as well as a bustling nightlife (taxis can be arranged for you)

– After breakfast, you are asked to check out by 12pm but you can leave your bags in the lock up and use the facilities if you have a later flight to catch

Location

This authentic and welcoming Moroccan surf camp is located in the quiet laidback Moroccan village of Tamraght, right on the oceanfront in the south west of Morocco, just 15km from Agadir in the south and a quick drive north to Taghazout.

This area is a world-renowned surf destination and is a great spot for surfers of all levels, from beginners to those looking to perfect their moves – you will be taken to all the best beaches and spots, changing it up daily, so your locations never get old.

FAQs

Who is it suitable for?

- Suitable for all levels from complete beginners to those that have surfed before and are looking to perfect their technique
- Must be able to swim
- Minimum age 14 (under 18s must be accompanied by an adult) with no upper age limit
- Surfing is great fun for everyone but it’s best to know that it can be physically demanding sometimes
- Lessons available in English, French and Arabic

I'm travelling solo - can I join?

- These surf holidays make great singles holidays as you meet new people who share similar interests to you
- Solo travellers can share a room with another solo traveller of the same sex or can choose a private room for an extra supplement if they wish
- There are also common areas to mingle with the other surfers

Can I bring a partner?

- Non-participating partners are welcome to join you and share a room for reduced price
- The price includes a shared twin/double room with a surfing partner, 6 delicious evening meals and all breakfasts

When can I start?

- Holidays run year round to take advantage of the great weather
- Surfing holidays are for 7 nights / 8 days

About your surf instructors

- The school was started by locals, for locals, teaching kids in the village how to surf
- Over the years, tourists began to suggest creating a place for them to learn and enjoy the local surfing experience
- The school and instructors are fully authorized by the Moroccan Surf Federation and each instructor is a graduate from the Federation
- Instructors have been specially selected for their teaching skills, passion for surfing and knowledge of the local area and surf spots
- Instructors are always on hand to create the experience for your individual needs and level to make sure you get the most from your surfing tuition

What will I learn?

- Water safety
- To understand your surfboard, find the rails, the nose, the stringer and the sweet spot!
- Theory lessons on types of breaks, surf board design, equipment and history
- How to best control the board
- Where and how to position yourself to catch a wave
- How to clear the breaking zone and best deal with white water
- Line up positioning
- How analyse the water and find the best waves
- How to paddle out to catch the waves
- Balance while standing and lying on the board
- How to stand on your board from a knees to standing position, until you master a ‘pop up’
- How to catch green waves (the wave just before it breaks)

Are meals included?

- You will be served breakfast and dinner on the surf camp's roof terrace
- Lunch will be packed and ready for you and served at the surf location chosen for that day
- All meals are made by our on site local cook, and are made from fresh, healthy local ingredients
- Please let us know at the time of booking if you have any specific dietary requirements and the school will do their utmost to accommodate your requirements
