Whilst many will probably think immediately of Chichen Itza, Cancun or Tulum when you first mention Mexico to them, to boil down this incredible peninsula of such variety and beauty would be doing it a great disservice.

There aren’t many places on earth you can spend one day exploring the cobbled streets and splendid architecture of an old colonial city one day, a mind-boggling maze of ancient temples and pyramids the next, and another lazing on a white sand beach that looks as if it’s leaped out of a postcard.

You can do all these things on the Yucatan Peninsula, where ancient Mayan temples share jungles with crystal clear cenotes, and incredible local cuisine awaits after a day of snorkelling with whale sharks, sea turtles, and a whole underwater world of life.
