What you'll do

Overview

Explore the best of Kenyan wildlife and culture on this unforgettable safari and beach holiday. Discover majestic wildlife in Tsavo West National Park such as lions, elephants, hippos and giant crocodiles, then take time to slow down on the beaches of the south coast. With pure white sand and crystal-clear water, this region is perfect for ultimate relaxation after the thrill of world-class safari.

You’ll be able to focus all your efforts on simply drinking in the incredible spectacles that unfold hour by hour, minute by minute as you explore one of the world’s most beautiful countries. This is all thanks to our expert hosts and guides who will take care of all your transfers and admin for you, leaving you to fully embrace this cultural and wildlife experience in vibrant Kenya,.

Your adventure begins when you arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi where you will be met by one of our local hosts who will take you directly to your first accommodation, where you will have the chance to rest and recuperate after your long journey.

From there you will explore the vast, beautiful Tsavo West National Park for two days, with a luxurious tented camp as your base. Put any notions of bare bones camping out of your mind however, as this safari camp helps you stay in the wilderness in total comfort, where you can relax by the pool, watching elephants wallow in a nearby watering whole, Mount Kilimanjaro looming in the distance.

The National Park is home to a diverse range of Kenyan wildlife, including the iconic African big 5  (lions, leopards, buffalo, rhinos and elephants). The park is situated in a remote spot of the Taru Desert and can be known as  the “Land of Lava, Springs, Man-eaters and Magical Sunsets”. It is one of the outstanding protected areas in Kenya and provides a vital home for a flourishing ecosystem of many carnivores and herbivores.

During your time here, you will have the opportunity to witness the bush wildlife on game drives and  on guided walks with locals, in the hope of catching a glimpse of all of these stunning animals in their natural habitat.

We wouldn’t want you returning home from your wildlife holiday feeling as though it’s been all go however. After your time in Tvaso West, you will spend two days in Mombasa South to unwind on beaches straight out of paradise. You’ll stay in a truly beautiful beach side resort which tastefully plays homage to the local Swahili culture of the area, where you can either relax completely, or enjoy scuba diving, kite surfing or take a trip out on a traditional dhow to explore the coastline.

Explore Tsavo West National Park

After breakfast , today will be spent exploring Tsavo West National Park, famous for the numerous prides of mane-less lion that patrol the plains. The park also boasts vast herds of dust-red elephants, fat pods of hippo, giant crocodile, teeming herds of plains game, a fantasia of bird life and vibrant flora. Look no further if you are a wildlife lover!

The day typically starts early, with a wake-up call before sunrise. After a quick breakfast, you will hop in a safari vehicle with a trained guide and head out into the park. As you drive through the savannah and acacia woodlands, your guide will point out the various wildlife and bird species that call Tsavo West home, including elephants, lions, leopards, cheetah, zebra, giraffes, and buffalo.

Sunrise is an incredibly beautiful time to head out into the park, not only due to the soft dawn light, but also because animals often become active in the early morning, and it’s not entirely unusual to hear the distant roar of a lion echoing across the plains.

During your time at Kipalo you can also enjoy night game drives, game walks with local guides and a cultural visit to local Taita tribe villages. Your host will arrange with you, depending on your preferences.

Relax with the opportunity for sundowners with complementary soft drinks, wine and beer.

The remains of many early Swahili settlements dot the coastline, the most significant being the 15th century Gedi ruins south of Malindi, while Lamu town has been designated a World Heritage Site due to its significance as a Swahili Centre.

Location

This amazing 7 night safari and beach holiday takes you away from the crowds, to a private conservancy on the edge of Tsavo National Park. The conservancy was created from a waste land where animals had been poached and driven out of the area, to provide a safe place for animals to return to and roam, and to support the local villagers. The animals are protected by a team of professional local rangers and watering holes have been created, so these days you are likely to see many and varied wildlife species here, on bush walks and game drives, and also in the neighbouring  Tsavo West National Park.

The second part of your holiday will be spent relaxing in a luxury secluded beach hotel on the beautiful white sand beaches of Mombasa, the main post and first capital of British East Africa, before Nairobi was elevated to capital city status. The town is a bustling and busy melting pot of cultures and the coastal resorts are tranquil and relaxing with tropical vegetation, turquoise waters and white sand beaches.
