This is all thanks to our expert hosts and guides who will take care of all your transfers and admin for you, leaving you to fully embrace this cultural and wildlife experience in vibrant Kenya,.

Your adventure begins when you arrive at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport, Nairobi where you will be met by one of our local hosts who will take you directly to your first accommodation, where you will have the chance to rest and recuperate after your long journey.

From there you will explore the vast, beautiful Tsavo West National Park for two days, with a luxurious tented camp as your base. Put any notions of bare bones camping out of your mind however, as this safari camp helps you stay in the wilderness in total comfort, where you can relax by the pool, watching elephants wallow in a nearby watering whole, Mount Kilimanjaro looming in the distance.

The National Park is home to a diverse range of Kenyan wildlife, including the iconic African big 5  (lions, leopards, buffalo, rhinos and elephants). The park is situated in a remote spot of the Taru Desert and can be known as  the “Land of Lava, Springs, Man-eaters and Magical Sunsets”. It is one of the outstanding protected areas in Kenya and provides a vital home for a flourishing ecosystem of many carnivores and herbivores.

During your time here, you will have the opportunity to witness the bush wildlife on game drives and  on guided walks with locals, in the hope of catching a glimpse of all of these stunning animals in their natural habitat.

We wouldn’t want you returning home from your wildlife holiday feeling as though it’s been all go however. After your time in Tvaso West, you will spend three days in Mombasa South to unwind on beaches straight out of paradise. You’ll stay in a truly beautiful beach side resort which tastefully plays homage to the local Swahili culture of the area, where you can either relax completely, or enjoy scuba diving, kite surfing or take a trip out on a traditional dhow to explore the coastline.

This eco-friendly way of travelling comfortably across the country will have you zipping through glorious countryside, and then into stunning wilderness as you pass by dramatic hillsides and endless expanses of savannah.

As the train leaves the city, the landscape gradually changes from urban to rural, with green fields and small villages dotting the countryside. The train passes through the rolling hills of the Great Rift Valley, offering stunning views of the surrounding landscape.

The journey continues through Tsavo National Park, one of Kenya’s largest game reserves, where passengers can catch glimpses of elephants, giraffes, zebras, and other wildlife. The train makes occasional stops at small stations along the way, giving passengers the opportunity to stretch their legs and explore the local area.

As the train approaches Voi, the scenery becomes more rugged and mountainous, with towering cliffs and rocky outcrops providing a dramatic backdrop to the journey.

Explore Tsavo West National Park

Today will be spent exploring Tsavo West National Park, famous for the numerous prides of mane-less lion that patrol the plains. The park also boasts vast herds of dust-red elephants, fat pods of hippo, giant crocodile, teeming herds of plains game, a fantasia of bird life and vibrant flora. Look no further if you are a wildlife lover!

The day typically starts early, with a wake-up call before sunrise. After a quick breakfast, you will hop in a safari vehicle with a trained guide and head out into the park. As you drive through the savannah and acacia woodlands, your guide will point out the various wildlife and bird species that call Tsavo West home, including elephants, lions, leopards, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes, and buffalo.

Sunrise is an incredibly beautiful time to head out into the park, not only thanks to the soft dawn light, but also thanks to the fact that animals often become active in the early morning, and it’s not entirely unusual to hear the distant roar of a lion echoing across the plains.

During your time at the park you can enjoy night game drives, game walks with local guides and a cultural visit to local Taita tribe villages. Relax with the opportunity for sundowners, a bush bath and with complementary soft drinks, wine and beer.

Mombasa South

The South Coast is famous for it’s endless white sand beaches and rich turquoise water along with a colourful history to delve into. From the 19th century onwards, Indian and Arab traders mingled with the indigenous population to create the unique Swahili culture, much of which still survives until this day.

The remains of many early Swahili settlements dot the coastline, the most significant being the 15th century Gedi ruins south of Malindi, while Lamu town has been designated a World Heritage Site due to its significance as a Swahili Centre.

The coast also boasts unique and diverse habitats, both in maritime and terrestrial national parks and reserves. Highlights include: Mombasa Old Town, Lamu, Gedi among others.
