Overview
Kenya is a country of exquisite beauty, with untouched landscapes filled with majestic wildlife and adventure around every corner. We want to take you on a rollercoaster ride filled with rafting, mountain biking, trekking, and of course a little safari. You will get far off the beaten track, to the lesser explored corners of Kenya where you will experience adrenaline-pumping action as well as precious moments to relax immersed in African wilderness.
Your adventure begins when you are met at the airport by your diver and are taken directly to your first accommodation to relax and refresh, ready to take on this action-packed 10 days. On your first day, enjoy exploring the Sanctuary Farm, where you can get up close and personal with zebra, giraffe and antelope.
Sanctuary Farm is far from your average farm. It is a 450 acre working farm that also dedicates itself to preserving much of the land it owns for essential conservation, supporting countless species of birds and other animals.
After a night of sleeping in cabins situated on the on the banks of Lake Naivasha, your second day will be made up of a banana boat safari on the waters of the lake, before a you head out on your first game drive through Enonkishu Conservancy. Here you can spot all the wildlife you picture in your minds eye on a Kenyan safari, such as elephant, lion, cheetah and hippopotamus, before you bed down for the night at an eco camp alongside the Mara River.
On your third day, enjoy a safari with a difference, as you head out into the Masai Mara on mountain bikes. This is a surreal experience, as you pedal your way through what feels like the middle of nowhere, with giraffes and zebra regarding you as you pass them by. Many people visit the Masai Mara, but very few people have the chance to mountain bike through it.
Follow this up with a full-day safari in a 4×4 Landcruiser searching for the big five, then on day five you’ll drive to Kakamega, through lush coffee country and rolling hills, before you arrive at Lake Victoria. Kakamega is the last remaining part of true rainforest that once stretched across East Africa. Very few tourists visit it and even fewer get the opportunity to raft through it.
And on your sixth day, this is exactly what you’ll get to experience. Rafting through the incredible Kakamega forest, one of the most picturesque rafting sections in the world, is a day that will live long in the memory. You’ll experience true wilderness and that off the beaten track feel on this part of the trip, as you wild camp at a spot on the riverbank, before continuing your rafting the next day.
The next day you will complete your jungle rafting journey, before heading to Soysambu Conservancy in the Rift Valley. This is a UNESCO World Heritage Site for flamingo and pelican breeding, and a spot where you’ll be able to look out over the unique views of a beautiful lake, coloured pink from the sheer number of flamingo.
Rest up and then head out on truly unique day in Kenya on a camel safari. Pack all your gear onto the backs of camels and trek off into the bush. The advantage of this unique form of safari is that the wild animals you encounter don’t recognise humans riding camels as humans at all, so will go about their business entirely naturally and ignore your approach. Tonight, you will wild camp at a beautiful secluded camp next to the lake.
On your ninth day make your way out of the bush and enjoy a slap-up lunch around the pool at Serena Camp, before you make the drive back to to Nairobi. Spend a night here before visiting the world-famous Giraffe Centre, where you can hand-feed these incredible animals. Enjoy a final lunch at a spot of your choice, then head to the airport and back home.
