Foodie Tour of Naples

Highlights

What you'll do

In a city renowned for its cuisine you cannot miss this fabulous gastronomic tour. The food testifies to the multiethnic origin and the influences that over the centuries have enriched the Neapolitan cuisine. During the tour you'll discover the best spots to taste authentic local food, like a Neapolitan!

Traditional Neapolitan cooking can be rich, complex and indulgent, but there are also simple comfort foods alongside the elaborate ones.

The tour begins with a visit to the vibrant Monumental district and with the tasting of a traditional, strong, and creamy coffee in a local coffeehouse with a wonderful atmosphere and great history.

Walking along the crowded and cheerful streets, you’ll smell before you see the colourful pastry shops. Here, you will get to taste the babà rum, a light, golden, brioche-like sweet bread that is generously soaked in rum syrup or a traditional sfogliatella, a shell-shaped pastry. Sfogliatella literally means small, thin leaf/layer, as the pastry’s texture resembles stacked leaves.

After these first experiences of the Neapolitan specialities, you’ll reach the beating heart of Naples.

In amongst the spectacular architecture and bustling crowds, you’ll have the opportunity to taste the best pizza you have ever had. The traditional local Pizzerias make pizza which is totally unique to Naples; this is the heartland of proper pizza.

You’ll get to see how the pizza chefs create their masterpieces and pick up a few tips!

There is also the option to visit the open air local  Pignasecca market which resembles a Caravaggio painting, its stalls overflowing with colourful fish, vegetables and fruits where the locals and the chefs go daily to buy their fresh ingredients.

On this tour you will discover a real slice of Neapolitan culture and cuisine, you won’t be disappointed by how good it tastes.
