What you'll do

Overview

Discover Rome like a true Italian. Enjoy visiting the hidden gems of Rome and taste the local food and wine. You will also be able to learn about the history and culture of this amazing city.

You will kick off your tour with a half day Vespa tour. You will be driving around Rome with a guide and seeing some of the best sights which are not accessible by foot. You will visit some historical sights and of course it being Rome there is always time to stop for a coffee and a gelato.

The next day will focus on the wine region outside Rome. You will catch the train towards Frascati where a family member from the vineyard will take you for some sightseeing before your wine tour. You will be able to taste the wines and learn about the traditional farming techniques in this region. All the wines will be paired with a traditional lunch, you will even be able to taste the family’s olive oil during this.

Your final day will be a free one to explore the city and choose what you would like to see. Of course we have some suggestions, but ultimately it is up to you to choose what you want to do on your last day in Rome!

Note: The Italian tourist tax is not included in the prices as it must be paid to the accommodation on the spot; this is €6.00 per person per day for 2022 (subject to change without notice)

Arrival and Vespa Tour

Arrival in Italy: Rome. Your driver will pick you up at the airport and take you to your hotel in central Rome

Check-in at your Hotel.

For the afternoon we have reserved a very special sightseeing day in Rome: a half day VESPA TOUR (Escorted). The best way to see Rome is from a bike, preferably a motorized one. Rome was not built for taxis and buses but for carriages and…Vespas! Each of you will seat on the back of a Vespa being driven by an expert local driver. One of the drivers is a fully authorized guide. There will be stops every 15 min so the guide can explain you all the sites visited.

You will experience and see sites, neighbourhoods & locations that are not available by foot. From the Colosseum to the Vatican, via Piazza Navona, the Pantheon and Castel Sant’Angelo. The Caracalla Baths and the Appian way, the Circo Massimo, the Aventine Hill, the Garden of Oranges, the ‘Gianicolo’ and the Garibaldi park with its magnificent views of beautiful Rome are some of the unique stops on this tour and, of course, this being Italy, there will also be stops for coffee and gelato!

This tour is very fun and will give you a great city overview and the chance to visit places that you probably cannot reach on your own.

Urban Exploration

Full day to explore Rome on your own.

We suggest you stroll through the Ancient Rome landmarks: the Roman Forums & Coliseum.

Or you can take a taxi to the Vatican where you can visit the Vatican Museums, St Peter’s Basilica and the Sistine Chapel. You will visit the Pio Clementino Museum, the Gallery of the Candelabras, the Gallery of the Geographical Maps, and the Gallery of the Tapestries (Renaissance art), the Raphael Rooms, the Sistine Chapel.

After the interesting visit at Vatican Museums, you could enter the St. Peter’s Basilica. The church was designed by Michelangelo, although he died before its final completion. Bernini designed the huge square in the 17th century. Upon entering the Basilica, you will admire the Bernini’s Baldacchino. Made in the 17th century, this huge bronze sculpture stands above the high altar and St. Peter’s tomb. Last but not least, Michelangelo’s Pietà. His only signed work, Michelangelo sculpted this beautiful marble statue when he was only 25 years old.

Back in Rome city center, you may want to finish your day with an aperitivo in one of the many cafes in Campo dei Fiori together with a lively crowd of Romans enjoying their time while they sip a Martini or Cinzano.
