What you'll do

From the illuminated bridges and lit-up skyline, to the buzzing café-packed neighbourhoods, Budapest truly comes to life after dark. Experience it on our Dinner Walk, where a meal becomes an opportunity to explore some lively Budapest neighbourhoods (while steering clear of the tourist traps) in the company of a food guide who can share their expertise, offer you a curated selection of the best dishes, and tell you all about what is on your plate.

Starting with some local cheese and sparkling wine, we’ll eat and drink our way around town, grazing on a variety of dishes and drinks at five venues over the course of the evening. The route passes through the Palace District, the Jewish quarter, and the Andrássy út area—neighborhoods with stunning architecture.

In addition to eating plenty, you’ll have the chance to taste a number of different drinks (including wine, sparkling wine, and cocktails made from local spirits). Let us show you where and what the locals eat … and we’re sure you’ll end up loving the Budapest evening vibes as much as we do. No need for dinner reservations or meal planning!

Carolyn and Gábor

Travel has been a part of our lives together from the time we met working on a cruise ship in the Caribbean more than two decades ago. We share a special passion (and an appetite) for the food and wine of Central Europe, as well as the people, places, and stories that make this region so fascinating.

We founded Taste Hungary—our Budapest-based food and wine tour company—in 2008, and ever since have loved doing this deep dive into the foodways and wine culture of Hungary. After spending years researching and writing Carolyn’s culinary guidebook to Hungary—Food, Wine, Budapest (Little Bookroom, 2008)—we started Taste Hungary with the intention of sharing their passion for Hungarian food and wine with like-minded travellers who want to experience the region’s authentic flavours and experiences.

At our independent wine shop and tasting cellar in Budapest’s Palace District, The Tasting Table Budapest, our team of sommeliers leads daily wine tastings, introducing wine lovers to the (often unknown) treasures of Hungary.
