What you'll do

Join a tour that gets you off the beaten track and under the skin of one of the most fascinating neighbourhoods in Paris, famous for its vibrancy and bohemian atmosphere, local galleries, boutiques, patisseries and chocolatiers and sample some of their famous delicious treats.

Meet a local, expert guide and explore the local side of St Germain des Pres, with atmospheric bars and edgy cafes tucked away down small streets and in quiet courtyards.

This legendary part of Paris is bursting at the seams with history, and you’ll dive into the heart of its fascinating past as you stroll around this hub of culture and post-war expression, far from the tourist crowds.

After the Second World War, the intellectual and artistic elite of Paris flocked here and flourished in the ’50s, bringing together artists, writers, poets and musicians, and the crowded bars and clubs boomed to the new music of Miles Davis and Sidney Bechet.

Today it’s still lively and vibrant, home to art-house cinemas, galleries and hip boutiques; a perfect place to stroll and soak up the very Parisian atmosphere in the company of an expert local guide.

St Germain is also a food lover’s paradise, and you’ll have chance to sample the delicious artisan fare of some of the best eateries in the area as you go about your tour.

You’ll stop at one of the oldest chocolate makers in Paris, with a great story to boot… they provided the go-to chocolates Queen Marie-Antoinette would take to follow her not-so savoury medicines, and you’ll get the chance to try the fated Queen’s favourite!

Some of the best contemporary pastry chefs and chocolatiers have brought their boutiques and delicacies to the district, and throughout your walk, you’ll get to sample exquisite macarons, award-winning chocolates, traditional and modern patisseries, and much more.

At the end of your tour, why not relax on the iconic terrace of the Deux Magots or the Café de Flore, enjoy an apéritif, get inspired, and watch the world go by, as many great writers, artists and intellectuals have done in St Germain-des-Pres.
