Welcome to Rovaniemi!

When you touch down at Rovaniemi airport,  your hosts be waiting there to transfer you directly to the incredible Arctic Treehouse Hotel. Drive through the ethereal pine forest, and arrive at your very own treehouse suite, nestled within the still, white forest.

The arctic suites have a large bed for two, and there are panoramic windows looking out to the forest and snowy wonderland. In some of the suites there is also a cabin bed which can sleep one child or adult and this quirky bed has a ladder to climb up and down. There is a luxury ensuite bathroom and tea and coffee making facilities.

The Glasshouse suites are larger and have two double bedrooms for up to 4 persons.

Take some time to settle in, unpack or explore, then you can enjoy a delicious dinner in the Rakas restaurant or one of the other local eateries.

After dinner, the evening is yours to enjoy. You can choose to relax in front of a roaring log fire or perhaps go out in search of the Northern Lights.

Visit Santa Claus and See the Northern Lights!

This morning after breakfast at your hotel you could enjoy a short walk to Santa Claus Village and visit Santa Clause’s post office, browse the numerous shops or stop for a drink and local snack at one of the cafes or restaurants, enjoying the Christmas atmosphere.

Get ready to tick the Northern Lights Wilderness Tour off your bucket list as you prepare to spend a magical evening exploring and seeking the magical Aurora Borealis.

You’ll be collected from your hotel, and put on the warm outerwear and boots before joining a small group and a professional guide to search through the wilderness on your evening hunt for the Aurora Boreali. You’ll have the opportunity to drive through the Lapland wilderness and explore the arctic nature. During stops you may take a short walk through the very old, white and snowy forest or to the top of fells, you may cross a wooden bridge over powerful rapids, or enjoy the silence on a lake beach and tranquility of a landscape of ice and snow… Hopefully, with Auroras dancing over your heads!

This experience is almost always done in the complete dark and you see the scenery in a completely new and beautiful way. You will get the opportunity to build a fire, outdoors, next to a log hut or in a teepee. Your guide will teach you how to light a fire in the traditional way, using silver birch bark and flint. While waiting for the first greenish arches to appear above your head, as the kettle starts to boil, your guide will share with you their knowledge and passion about the forest and its wildlife, and the northern lights. You will have a hot beverage to warm you up, grill your own sausages over the open fire and enjoy it with the famous Finnish mustard.

We can’t guarantee that you will see them due to weather conditions, but your local guide is expert at searching for the best possible place to see them, help you to take the best photos, and will also take photos themselves with a professional camera, and share them with you.

You’ll return to your wonderful cosy suite around 11pm.

Snowshoe Adventure and Reindeer Sleigh Ride

After a buffet breakfast at your accommodation, you will enjoy a snowshoe hike through the beautiful Lappish wilderness. You will be able to see some stunning views of the rolling hills covered in a blanket of perfect snow. You will definitely want to bring a camera for this one!

Put on your snowshoes and get ready for a relaxing walk into the wilderness! You will join a small group and head deep into the Arctic nature with your guide, to discover more of the secrets of Lapland. You will snowshoe through old forests, along frozen rivers or lakes, or up to a hilltop, looking for wildlife and their foot prints left in the snow, you may be lucky enough to see tracks made by wolves, lynx, wolverines, moose, reindeer, weasels, Arctic hare…

Your guide will  adapt the route to ensure it is suitable for everyone, from the very beginners to the good hikers. As you will explore the white scenery and feel the peaceful harmony of Lapland your guide will keep an eye on wildlife and flora, and will tell you more about nature and your surroundings.

Following this, you will get the chance to visit the most famous Lappish animal during a reindeer farm visit. Your guide will drive you in a very small group to one of the most traditional reindeer farms in Lapland, just outside of Rovaniemi on the shores of a peaceful lake. You will meet the reindeer and explore the Taiga forest on a Reindeer sled ride, before warming up inside the herders hut for a warm berry juice and snack, where the herders will tell you more about their life with the reindeer.

Return to your hotel to relax after amazing day in the arctic nature.

Husky Safari, Snowmobile and Finnish Sauna

After a buffet breakfast at your accommodation, you will be picked up for your husky safari. First of all you will be given warm clothing (recommended as it can be very cold during the safari), and then your guide will drive you to a lovely local husky farm, around 30 minutes drive from Rovaniemi set amidst the magical snowy forests.

At the farm, you will be welcomed by the mushers and the excited barking of their lovely dogs. You will be introduced to your dog team and will be given the safety instructions and some tips how to drive the sleigh. Once ready, you will embark on your husky sled ride , two people per sleigh, dashing through the winter scenery for about 45 mins. You are always 2 adults maximum for the sleigh ride (one driving, and one passenger sitting in the sleigh) and you will have the opportunity to switch the driver and passenger halfway if you wish.

After the safari, the mushers will take time to share with you an insight into their life style, explain about the job of a musher, how they train their dogs and answer all your questions around an open fire. All the dogs are photo enthusiasts, so do not forget to bring your camera with you!

Your next adventure will be exploring the area on an adventurous ride over the snow and ice on a snowmobile. You can go at your own pace and enjoy the views through the forest, or out on a frozen lake. You’ll have a stop to warm up with berry juice and traditional biscuits  before you set off again gliding over the crisp white snow. This is the very best way to get deep into the Lapland wilderness, and truly off the beaten track as you head away from the village and out into the vast fells, quiet woodlands and frozen lakes.

Return to the hotel to relax after an amazing day of new experiences.
