What you'll do

Overview

Experience the greatest natural show on earth, nestled in the wilderness of the Finnish backcountry, in a unique, first-class setting. Spend your days enjoying outdoor activities in the amazing snowy playground of Lapland, and your evenings gazing in awe at the brilliant colours of the Aurora Borealis.

The adventure begins once you’ve been picked up from Ivalo airport, and taken to your luxurious Aurora Cabin to begin your three-day hunt for the Northern Lights.

Seeing this phenomenon in person is one that simply can’t be matched, as brilliant pinks and greens burst across the inky black sky, brushing the deep fir forests.

You’ll stay in stylish and high quality accommodation -a cozy Aurora Cabin, the heated glass roof providing an expansive, panoramic view of the sky above you. Enjoy a range of Lappish activities, including taking the kids on a reindeer ride and of course the magical opportunity to meet Santa in his snowy home.

You’ll get to explore the area by getting a little further afield on a snowmobile, drinking in the incredible scenery that is just so far removed from the landscapes we are used to.

Gliding through the impossibly still forest and the crisp, clear Lapland air is a hugely liberating feeling, and you’ll come across some of the most beautiful natural landscapes anywhere in Finland.

Satisfyingly wearied from a day of once-in-a-lifetime activities, settle in for some delicious food prepared with only the purest ingredients from Lapland, served by a roaring, warming log fire and in the snug Lappi restaurant.

The entire adventure in Lapland has been crafted with skill and passion so that you can enjoy this unforgettable experience totally, and relax in the highest quality accommodation.

A full example itinerary is detailed below, activity timings can differ slightly, your own personal schedule will be given to you upon check in.

Escape to the Wilderness

When you touch down at Ivalo airport, we’ll be waiting there to transfer you directly to the incredible Northern Lights Village. Drive through the ethereal pine forest, and arrive at your very own luxury glass-roofed cabin, nestled within the still, white trees.

Take some time to settle in, unpack, or explore the site, then we’ll welcome you for a dinner in the cosy Lappi restaurant for a meal made with natural, local produce from the surrounding environment.

After dinner, the evening is yours to enjoy. You can choose to relax in front of a roaring log fire or even book a trip to see the Northern Lights:

Then head back to your warm cabin for a night of lying under the ink-black sky, gazing upwards through the clear window to catch a glimpse of the incredible Northern Lights.

Activity timings may differ slightly, your confirmed schedule will be given to you upon check in.

Nature Immersion

Start your day with a hearty breakfast, and prepare yourself for a day of activities that will allow you to truly get in touch with nature and experience true wilderness.

You’ll start the day with a reindeer express ride. Get up close and personal with these magnificent creatures, so central to Sami culture and symbolic of life in the far northern reaches of Finland.

Experience a ride in a sleigh from one of these gentle animals, and hiss through the silent trees and the pure, cold air.

For the kids, they’ll be able to experience some real Lapland magic, as they meet the ‘real’ Santa in his home!

You’ll have free access to the site’s sleds, snowshoes, skis and other equipment for the entire experience, so that you’re free to explore the trails and paths that snake through this untouched, pristine part of the world and discover dramatic fells, hidden clearings and frozen lakes.

Satisfyingly wearied and chilled from a day in the open, you’ll head for another warming, hearty dinner, warm your bones by an open fire, and spend the evening at your leisure, waiting for the spectacular Borealis to burn across the clear night sky.

There is the opportunity to add a visit to see the huskies and to take a husky safari – add this to your experience at time of booking.
