What you'll do

Join us on a foraging and cook out adventure, in Ambleside, where you will join trained and enthusiastic foragers to give you a walk and and a picnic with a difference. Learn to live off the land and all about the health benefits of foraged plants and flowers, then enjoy a delicious meal with your group cooked outdoors around the camp fire.

Meet your guide in Ambleside, the heart of the Lake District, then head out looking for edibles that will form the basis of your meal.

You will spend three hours with your expert forager, uncovering delicious and unexpected herbs, vegetables and fruit.

The ingredients don’t get much more local than this…

Your expert guide will help you identify all manner of vegetation growing in the woodlands, amongst ferns, and in places you would never have guessed to look, giving you a new appreciation for a landscape we walk through so often.

People have been foraging in this land for millennia, so this experience really helps you get back to our roots and find a new appreciation the plants and fungi that grow here, so much of which is surprisingly central to a newly flourishing British cuisine.

Once you have collected the ingredients, you will sit down to a picnic, by a campfire where your lunch will be cooked and prepared.

By the time you’ve finished your seasonal, delicious picnic cooked by the campfire, you’ll never find yourself looking at your usual hike through the Lake District in the same way again.
