What you'll do

Get out and immersed in nature on a paddleboarding adventure along the beautiful River Torridge, and drink in the stunning scenery along this beautiful part of North Devon.

So, what is paddleboarding? It’s sometimes referred to as ‘Stand Up Paddleboarding’ and it uses a large surf-like board with plenty of width and volume to aid stability. In a standing position, you use a long, single-ended paddle to propel your board forwards.

It can be as exhilarating or as relaxing as you like, but one thing is certain: you will have a great time paddleboarding the beautiful North Devon coast with one of our safe and experienced instructors.

The great thing about paddleboarding is how easy it is to pick up. You don’t need to be super-fit or athletic to have a great time and pretty much anyone can get on a board and get out on the water straight away.

Sessions

Sessions vary depending on the time of day and the conditions. We sometimes operate from the beach but our most popular sessions take place on the Torridge River where we use the incoming or outgoing tide to take us up or down the river. These scenic routes will take you past woodland, rocky coves, boats, villages and even shipwrecks for a proper adventure you’ll never forget.

The tour starts from either the beach, where you’ll drift past stunning coves and cliffs, discovering hidden beaches and potentially some marine wildlife along the way, or you will explore the beautiful River Torridge.

Making use of the tide to determine where and when you begin, you’ll float through Devon farmland and discover quiet woodland, idyllic villages and incredible scenery.

Hi, I’m Will, I have been surfing the North Devon coast since early childhood and am at my happiest when in the water, whatever the weather. I am lucky enough to have travelled far and wide, surfing big waves in Lanzarote, Portugal, Indonesia, Mexico, Ireland, California and Hawaii. I began working for local Outdoor Pursuit Centres at the age of 18, teaching surfing and coasteering, while studying Outdoor Pursuits at Petroc College. For a couple of winter seasons I worked in Austria as a ski instructor, and still love to get on the slopes with skis or a snowboard whenever time allows. I and my team of instructors have a passion for all the activities on the coastline and in the water, whether you’re looking for the thrill of coasteering, the challenge of rock climbing or fancy hitting the waves with our surf and paddle boarding lessons, our team is here to make sure you have a fantastic time exploring the North Devon coastline.
