What you'll do

The ultimate way of getting to know the world-famous city of Cambridge, combining wandering the stunning streets with gliding on the dreamy waterways, join a local guide who will help you truly get under the skin of this beautiful corner of England.

Tailored to your needs and objectives your private walking tour can be completely personalised or can follow our classic tour including all the iconic buildings and famous places in the city.

The tour is led by a Cambridge University alum with a passion for the city , someone who has lived here and worked in the iconic colleges, libraries and lecture halls, attended ”formal halls” and ”May Balls” the tour is ideal for anyone who simply wants to get to know this wonderful city better.

In just an hour and a half, walk through a thousand years of human history: from an Anglo-Saxon church tower to a contemporary (and controversial) clock that doesn’t even tell the time properly. See the rooms where Newton wrote his theory of gravity and hear the truth behind the apple tree myth.

Visit the pub where Watson and Crick announced one of the greatest discoveries of the twentieth century. Marvel at some of the greatest examples of Gothic and Neoclassical architecture in the world. Inspiring, baffling, and downright outrageous: Cambridge is a city full of stories waiting to be told.

Cambridge is nothing without its students, and it’s the students who make our walking tours so special. Combining a deep passion for the city’s history and architecture with the knowledge and experience of an insider, all our tour guides are either graduates or current students of the University of Cambridge.

You hear all about what the students really get up to, the traditions and reputation of each college, which college is the poshest one, and which is the richest? Which one has a communist flag in its bar?

As well as hearing it all from the horse’s mouth, you get to see inside two colleges, with highlights including the beautiful Pembroke College Chapel and gardens. This is the real Cambridge as experienced from within the college walls.

Our classic tour covers some of the following highlights: Trinity Hall College, Trinity College, The Wren Library, Corpus Christi College, Pembroke College, Queens’ College, King’s College backs, Clare College, The Senate House, Gonville and Caius College, St Catherine’s College, Great St Mary’s Church, The Eagle Pub, The Corpus Clock, The Round Church, famous town stories, and much more…

The second part of the tour is conducted on the water as we take to the River Cam in a traditional punting boat. We cruise through eight of the most famous colleges and under nine iconic bridges, taking in sights such as King’s College Chapel and the stunning Bridge of Sighs, and your personal tour guide spins stories that blow your mind.

History fanatic? Considering studying architecture? Want to know about student pranks? Or are you happy sipping champagne and enjoying the view? Tell us exactly what you want from a punting tour, and we’ll do the rest.

If you require a group size larger than 8, please enquire.

Really enjoyed it! We had Catherine as our tour guide, she was so informative and approachable and it was fun hearing a Cambridge students view on all the traditions.
