What you'll do

We start the food tour by taking you to Plaza de Paloquemao – one of Bogota, Colombia’s oldest and largest traditional markets. Then it’s off to a cooking school! You’ll take part in a hands-on cooking class where you’ll learn to make a traditional Colombian dish.

We will pick you up from your hotel and go straight to Plaza de Paloquemao. Founded in 1946, leaders relocated Paloquemao to its current spot in the heart of Bogota in 1967. This market is one of the most popular places for locals to buy fresh produce, meat, flowers and more! You will taste exotic fruits, Colombian snacks and fresh breads as we wander through the market in search of the best places to buy ingredients for lunch. Plaza de Paloquemao is the perfect environment to interact with the locals and learn about day-to-day life in Bogota.

Once we’re finished at the market, we will drive to the cooking school, where you will prepare a traditional Colombian dish under the guidance of a skilled chef. You will learn more about Colombian food and which dishes are famous in each region of Colombia. Once your food is ready, we will sit down together to enjoy a delicious Colombian lunch complete with fresh fruit juice.

Our last stop will be to Bogota’s dessert district. This is where families gather on weekends to partake in somethingsweet. You’ll get the chance to choose from a variety of traditional Colombian desserts such as tres leches cake, flan, milhojas and more. We’ll drop you off back at your hotel around 2 p.m.

Can you tell us a bit about yourself?

I was born and raised in Bogota when I was studying I actually didn;t didn’t study anything to do with tourism. My career began in engineering and I worked in this industry for many years, but I always maintained a passion for travel, discovery and exploring and did plenty in my spare time.

Both in Colombia and across the rest of the world.

After a while, my husband got an offer to work in the UK and so we moved across the world and then came my idea to start a business… (which has always been a big ambition of mine)

What inspired you to work in travel?

As mentioned, I always had a passion for travel and always wanted to start my own business. It was about 7 years ago I attended a conference where the Colombian government outlined their plans to invest in tourism to make Colombia fulfil its potential as a tourism destination. So here the seeds were planted to start looking to offer experiences in Colombia. Another influence was that obviously being from Colombia myself and my husband have deep knowledge of all the local, authentic things to do. So whenever our friends were visiting, they would always come to us to ask what to do and where to go and we loved telling people, so this was the second indicator. So we started to look to offer these experiences.

What makes your experiences special?

We combine the highlights of Colombia, the things most people want to see, with off the beaten track, authentic experiences that you wouldn’t get on any normal tour. So people really get an insight into true local life as well as seeing any must-see, main sights.

What our travellers are saying...

My girlfriend and I went on their culinary tour and cooking class a few days ago and it was absolutely the highlight of our time in Bogota. Daniel was an incredible guide; he knew a ton about all the food we were tasting and was happy to answer all our questions about Bogota and Colombia in general. The chef, Guillermo, was wonderful! He was so gracious and welcoming, and the food we made was incredible. We had high expectations for this experien

This was one very interesting and fun tour. We got picked up (and later dropped off) at our hotel, went to the Paloquemado Market. Our driver was very kind and took time to show us the whole market, explaining regional foods like the fruits that are not common in our region (Europe). We then went on buying all the ingredients for the meal and headed to the cooking school. The chefs were very professional, friendly and fun. The meal was delicio

My fiancee and I took the cooking class with Daniel Rodriguez. He picked us up from our hotel at 9am and he arrived a bit early, which was perfect for us. Daniel was very friendly and knowledgeable; it was a pleasure to spend the day with him. He took us to Paloquemao Market and we walked through the flower market. It was amazing! Flowers were beautiful, fragrant, and cheap. Daniel showed us around the market. We tried some really tasty. Colo

We visited the amazing food and flower market in Bogota. We purchased fresh fish, fruits and vegetables and enjoyed a cooking class with a master chef and our guides. Daniel was extremely informative and friendly. He responded to all of our questions and dietary needs. To top off the the day, we visited "dessert row" and enjoyed a lovely Colombian dessert. We felt as if we were a part of Colombia and welcomed with warmth.
