What you'll do

Get off the beaten track and experience authentic communities at the Great Tonlé Sap, enjoying a cruise on the biggest body of freshwater in South-East Asia and visit beautiful floating villages.

You’ll be picked up from your accommodation at around 3:00 pm, and taken by tuk-tuk to Tonlé Sap, a network of lake and river systems that spills across the lush, emerald-green countryside to create eerily beautiful, richly biodiverse landscapes.

Start by visiting some of the floating villages that have made their homes on the fragrant water, by dropping in at either Kompong Khleang or Kampong Phluk on a river cruise.

There are a number of colourful, vibrant communities and villages dotted along the margins of the great lake, each one offering an insight into real, authentic Cambodian culture and demonstrating the great human ability to adapt to and thrive off their natural surroundings.

Your local guide will ensure you see the very best of this unique corner of the world, showing you their favourite villages and the most vibrant markets as you explore the area.

On the way back, you have the chance to experience a real, no holds barred Khmer picnic. Try frogs, crickets, grasshoppers, spiders and… duck embryo? Of course, eating any of this is for the adventurous, and totally voluntary!

At the end of the tour, you’ll be dropped off back at your accommodation in Siem Reap.
