Get to know the Cambodia that's a little off the beaten track, on a cycling tour that gets you out of the city and exploring the lush, beautiful countryside and the authentic communities that call it home.
You’ll be picked up from your hotel at 6:30 am for a full day of adventure, so make sure you’re well-rested for an early start!
Start by riding through the early morning streets of Phnom Penh, witnessing the colourful, manic city stir into life. You’ll stop to admire the yellow spires of the Royal Palace, and then learn the right way to worship at the Preah Ang Dongker, one of the most important sacred locations and shrines in Cambodia.
You’ll then be jumping on a local ferry, catching it as far as Chaktomuk Hall on the quiet, sweeping river, to arrive at Arey Ksat. Then, enjoy a bike ride through the vibrantly green fields, the villagers’ gardens providing exotic colour and life on your journey to Prek Bongkong.
Stop at a local family home where they weave traditional silk scarves in the traditional Khmer fashion. You can try weaving traditional silk yourself and enjoy some seasonal fruits, grown right on the property.
The next stop is an island called Koh Oknha Tey, completely surrounded by the Mekong River. You’ll tour around the island before sweeping across the only bridge leading to to Koch Dach, another well-known silk island.
Here, you’ll visit a ginger farm and a dry-season rice field, as well as the local kindergarten, so you can really get a taste of rural life in Cambodia. Lunch will be served in a local spot in the village, and then it’s time to relax after a delicious meal in a hammock, where you can watch the slow pace of life drift by.
Continue to explore the island for the afternoon, before catching a tuk-tuk back to your hotel in Phnom Penh for the evening.
