Immerse yourself in Brazilian music culture, trying your hand at instruments such as the rhum, rhumbi and lê drums of the candomblé, to get to the heart of an authentic sound that has inspired musicians all over the world.
Your guide will pick you up from your hotel at around 9 am, and take you to the Music Centre, where you’ll have the chance to throw yourself into a musical workshop that explores the essentials of Brazilian music and percussion.
The Beat Goes On Bahia is the percussive heart of Brazil, although its rhythmic soul is African, with a mind-boggling myriad of rhythms that has attracted many international musicians to these shores: Paul Simon and Michael Jackson to name just a couple.
The origins of intrinsically Brazilian musical formats have their origins here – samba, bossa nova, axé. As proof of its musicality, Salvador is a member of UNESCO’s Creative Cities Network in the music category, one of just sixteen currently in the world.
Under the expert guidance of local professional percussionists, you will investigate and contextualize varied aspects of the percussive jungle that is Bahia, focusing on the more important and accessible rhythms in a workshop that is instructive, interactive, engaging and fun.
At the end of the experience your guide will drop you back off at your hotel.
