Sydney, Australia

A local’s guide to the Harbour City

Hi, I’m Steve and I’m Sydney’s local ambassador for Not in the Guidebooks. I’ve lived in and around Sydney for 20 years and call me biased if you like, but I truly believe it to be the best city in the world! Being a part of Not in the Guidebooks gives me the opportunity to showcase my city and my home, in the best way possible. With my local knowledge I can promote fantastic experiences that really aren’t in the traditional travel guides – things I like to do with my family.

    Best Time to Visit Sydney

    General

There is never a bad time to visit Australia! You can’t beat summer in Sydney – which is why December-February is the high season, with great sunny weather. However the city is busy and prices sky rocket during this time, so I recommend planning your trip outside of the high season (either September to November in spring or March to May in autumn).

Autumn is a great time to visit the surrounding wine regions, while spring brings beautiful blooms to the suburban streets. If you’re into cultural activity then you shouldn’t rule out winter either as this is Sydney’s festival season.

Temperatures in Sydney can range from 8˚C in the winter to the mid 30s in summer, so the weather can vary. Pack lots of options!
