What you'll do

Overview

Learn from the experts in the birthplace of tango during a one week course in Buenos Aires, Argentina; the course consists of a combination of intensive group Spanish classes and group and individual tango classes to make the most of your time there.

This Spanish and Tango course is designed to provide an intensive language and dance experience for those who are looking to get the most out of their Buenos Aires experience.

The Spanish course is an intensive course so students can learn as much Spanish as possible in a short period of time. Classes are small groups, with an average of 6 people, and for all levels. If you are a complete beginner or an advanced speaker, the school can assign you to a group of students with the same Spanish level.

Tango classes are taught at the school or a local tango dance studio with an expert teacher. Classes are suitable for complete beginners and those who have had experience dancing tango previously. You will have one group tango class to practice with others and one private lesson in order to focus on your specific skills and needs.

Students are also encouraged to participate in other tango-related activities during their time in the city. For example, attending tango shows or going a ‘milonga’ (tango dance hall) for an authentic experience with Argentines. Students can also visit La Boca and San Telmo to see tango dancers on the street and learn about how the passionate dance started.

Located in the neighborhood of Palermo, one of the most popular places to live in the city as it is filled with green spaces, restaurants, cafes, clubs and shopping. The school is just one block from the nearest subway stop allowing students to travel to other parts of the city at ease. The school is in a brand new location, recently renovated in January 2022, making it one of the most modern language schools in Latin America.

More about the optional accommodation

Host Family

For those who want to practice Spanish as much as possible, a homestay is always the best option. You will live with a local family and two meals a day are included, which is the best time to interact with you hosts. You will have a single bedroom and share bathrooms and other common areas. Each homestay has been inspected by school staff to confirm quality, cleanliness and safety. The school housing is always located in the best neighbourhoods in the city, such as Recoleta, Palermo and San Telmo. You can expect a maximum commute of 35 minutes to the school each day on foot or via public transport. The school can always accommodate certain requests like smoking vs. non-smoking, pets vs. no pets and special diets for vegetarians, etc. Other special requests, like living in a certain neighbourhood, the school will do its best to accommodate but cannot 100% guarantee. PLEASE NOTE: if you have any dietary requirements, there will be a supplementary charge of $35 per week (vegetarians, vegans, etc.).

Shared Apartment

Students can also choose to live in a shared apartment with a local host in one of the best neighbourhoods of the city (maximum 35 minutes to the school). Each student will have a single bedroom and share bathrooms and common spaces. Some apartments just have one room for students while others have multiple rooms. Meals are not included but students have access to a fully-equipped kitchen. This is a more independent housing option than a family, while still allowing to live with locals as well as possibly other students.
